Faith Formation & Education

The Basilica Parish is not currently able to offer Religious Education in English for grades 1 through 8 or high school. For religious education in our Spanish community, please contact Servant Sisters of the Home of the Mother: [email protected].   It is important that parents be fully engaged in the faith formation of their children throughout their lives. With this in mind, especially for the preparation of your children for reception of the Sacraments, we ask that you 'register' your children with the parish and provide the necessary information about the way in which you will be providing for the religious education of your children.

First Reconciliation (Fall) and First Communion (Spring) are received during the 2nd grade. The Sacrament of Confirmation is received during the 8th grade (Spring). The diocese does not require participation in formal religious education programs for grades 3-6 or high school, however it does require two years of religious education in order to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation / Communion and Confirmation. Therefore, 1st Grade and 7th Grade religious education is absolutely necessary prior to moving to the formal program for the reception of the Sacraments of Reconciliation / Communion and Confirmation.
